FDCP HONORS FILIPINAS BEHIND THE CAMERA AT PFIM 2025 GALA NIGHT
Manila, Philippines – September 11, 2025 — The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) marked a milestone in this year's Philippine Film Industry Month (PFIM) with its annual Gala Night, remembering the pioneering women of earlier generations who first carved space behind the camera, while honoring today's trailblazers who continue to move the industry forward.
Carrying the theme “Pelikula at Pilipina,” this year's Gala Night paid tribute to Filipinas whose artistry and expertise behind the camera have been instrumental to the growth of the country's film industry. From writers and editors to production designers, cinematographers, and producers, the event put the spotlight on the vital yet often unseen contributions of women in cinema.
The notable honorees for PFIM: Filipinas Behind the Camera were:
Lee Briones – Cinematographer (presented by Laurice Guillen)
Raquel Villavicencio – Writer & Production Designer (presented by Madeleine Nicolas)
Gina Alajar – Director, Actress (presented by Anna Marin)
Olivia Lamasan – Director (presented by Kriz Gazmen)
Malou Santos – Producer (presented by Roxy Liquigan)
In addition, a special tribute was dedicated to acclaimed filmmakers Antoinette Jadaone and Baby Ruth Villarama, whose groundbreaking works continue to amplify Filipina voices and champion unique narratives on screen.
The program was elevated by artistic performances, showcasing the creative energy that continues to inspire Filipino storytelling. Meanwhile, the evening also included the Films for Peace Awarding Ceremony, recognizing cinematic works that spark conversation on peace, understanding and nation-building.

A Curation of Asian Cinema Program - launching October 2025, a celebration of Asian cultural exchange, film appreciation, and diverse cinematic voices.
Behind the Reel (Season 2) - returning in December 2025, this roundtable series gathers filmmakers and industry voices to share insights, spark conversations, and discuss today's realities in cinema.
Isapelikula - set to launch next year, a comprehensive program providing incubation, mentorship, funding and networking opportunities to empower Filipino filmmakers in bringing culturally significant stories to life.
Through the PFIM Gala Night 2025, the FDCP reaffirmed its commitment to inclusivity and empowerment, honoring the women who have paved the way while inspiring the next generation of Filipina filmmakers to break barriers and tell stories that matter.
